New Delhi World Book Fair, 2018 – Jam-Packed Experience

I am not an avid Novel reader, though I do try to read a novel every 3 months. But, I’ve been going to New Delhi World Book Fair for past 3- 4 years regularly. It is one of the BEST place to buy novels for dirt cheap. Some are second hand, third hand and who knows how many owners these Novels have seen. But, they’re in pretty great shape. You can easily find a third hand Novel that looks as good as a freshly bought piece.

If you really want to make the best out of it and want a bang for your buck, I’ll recommend that your avoid the stalls and bigger publications. If you’re on a budget, I mean a very tight budget, you should avoid going to these stalls. What you should do instead is that look for the vendors sitting around these stalls. These guys are not from well known or funded publications. I’m not sure who these gentlemen are. But, these guys will have offers you can’t refuse. No, seriously. Any 3 novels for Rs. 100 (~$1.57 or ~€1.29). And these Novels look really great.

I bought 6 Novels for Rs 300 (~$4.72 or ~€3.87).

This time around, I couldn’t get the crazy deals I got last time. I bought 7 Novels for Rs. 100 (~$1.57 or ~€1.29) last year. No kidding! I and my friends were shocked when we heard that. We literally asked the vendor 3-4 times to check it with it. This year, the place was heavily packed and it was literally so hard to move and oh god, it was so hot in there. Just a note to people… please  keep moving and don’t stand in the middle of the fucking way. Please, just don’t.

The Crowd!

This was the line outside one of the Halls. There was some construction going on as well, which also caused them some shortage on the available halls, I believe. I tried to look for Viz Media, but I guess they did not make it to the book fair, 2018. I went on the second last day, so a lot of stock was already sold out and hence, I couldn’t find any work from Agatha Christie (which is the worst part). I’ve been looking for Agatha Christie’s work for last 2 years and I still haven’t gotten a hold of it. Fuck it, I’ll visit on day 1 next time.

Despite the venue being crowded, despite not getting a deal like last year, it was fun and I now have some more novels in my catalogue.
